My Name is Claire

Based on a little girl who attended elementary school with my son. My Name is Claire, is what Claire wants everyone to know about people like her. Born with Down Syndrome, she wants others to know she really isn’t that different when it comes to how she feels inside and what she is capable of. My hope for this story is to help educate young readers about people with disabilities. To teach them that if people look different, are non-verbal, in a wheelchair - whatever it is, they are human beings who also deserve kindness.
